The European Council and the European Parliament issued Directive (2001/45/EC) which emphasizes the need for adequate training to be provided to the participants in work at height.

Work at height training is regulated by standards. The rules set out by the British standard (BS 8454), as a code of practice for delivery of training and education for work at height and rescue, is the foundation of the service provided by VERTIKO. Up to date training courses are delivered consistently, trainers are qualified and experienced in the area they teach, the equipment and polygon adhere to the norms and standards, participants' knowledge and skills are continually verified and all the procedures are properly documented. Full compliance with standards is a guarantee of the superior level of service.

Training courses include: safe methods of climbing and movement, use of fall protection equipment and systems, tying knots and making anchorages, lowering or raising of casualties, rigging and lifting loads, rope ascent and descent and other topics adjusted to client needs. Training programmes are implemented consistently in accordance with written procedures and under the supervision of VERTIKO's principal trainer.

The trainers employed by VERTIKO have been involved in work at height for more than 20 years and are well acquainted with the industrial environment in which trainees work. They possess both the international qualifications and practical skills which are essential and mandatory (standard) in delivering training. Thousands of hours spent training in work at height guarantee the success of transmitting their expertise to course participants.

Depending on the course, training usually takes between one and up to six days. The theoretical session takes place in a classroom and includes a lecture accompanied by video material and a presentation of the equipment. All participants will be provided with illustrated course material. Practical training makes up to 90% of the course, and includes learning about equipment characteristics, a demonstration of various techniques and learning about the risks involved, with an emphasis on crucial elements and training in concrete skills. It is held on the VERTIKO polygon or ground training structures, where all the required equipment is made available to trainees. Training is delivered in small groups, with the trainer to trainee ratio not exceeding 1:6.

Knowledge and skills are tested in writing and via practical exercises, and participants who pass the testing will be able to use a number of fall protection techniques and apply various fall protection methods. They will also learn the techniques applied in rescue from height. They will be able to recognize potential hazards related to the work at height and detect any defects or omission in the application of equipment. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will get a VERTIKO certificate and ID card.
